Lets get to booking hotels for your trip! Booking early will help make sure you get a room at the preferred hotel and lock in a good room rate. Most reservations can be cancelled, and payment can be set to “pay on arrival”. The rates listed below are through Hotels.com (we are personally booking through Hotels.com). Using Hotels.com or your preferred travel websites will give you better rates vs booking directly through the hotel website (usually 20% cheaper).
July 3rd thru July 5th
Culture and History Segment of the Tour
You will be staying in Dambulla, and visiting Sigirya, Dambulla Caves, and Polonnaruwa. Travel in this flat region of Sri Lanka is relatively easy, but distances are greater. (5 miles = 20min by car). The Heritance hotel is located inside an eco preserve, and has a dirt road for access. This will add 15min to any trip you make. Tuk tuks are available within the town of Dambulla, but not at the Heritance hotel. Cars and vans can be arranged with the hotel in the morning, and sometimes on demand.

The Wedding
You will be staying in Kandy, and visiting around Kandy, Peradeniya, and the Elephant Orphanage. Travel within the city of Kandy is subject to city traffic (5 miles = 25 min by car). Tuk tuks are available on demand anywhere. Cars and vans can be arranged with the hotel in the morning, and sometimes on demand. Travel outside of Kandy through the mountains requires more planning – recommend you review any travel plan with the hotel and they can make the arrangements, often on the same day.

The Highlands: Nuwara Eliya
You will be staying in Nuwara Eliya and visiting tea plantations, the old English town, waterfalls, and the Horton Plains. Travel in the hilly region of Nuwara Eliya is challenging (5 miles = 25+ min by car). Cars and vans can be arranged at the hotel within the day. Tuk tuks are not as common.

The Highlands: Ella Region
You will be staying in Ella and visiting the immediate surrounding area. Travel in the mountainous region of Ella is extremely difficult (5 miles = 50+min by car). Tuk tuks are readily available, but cars and vans have to be booked multiple days in advance. Most of our activities will be on foot. Hotels below have been picked for accessibility, as some hotels are on roads not accessible by car.

Beaches & Costal Towns
You will be staying in Galle and visiting Galle Fort and the coastal region north and south of Galle Fort. Travel in this area is very easy (5 miles = 15 min by car). You can often get a Tuk tuk right outside the hotels, or easily book cars and vans with the hotel.

Beaches & Airport
You will be staying in Negombo, which is a beach resort area north of the city, and very close to the airport. The reason for this is to ensure you have quick and convenient access to the airport. If you prefer to stay inside Colombo, traffic can add 2-3 hours to your travel time to the airport. Negombo has beaches, restaurants, and bars (in a single row along the beach like Tulum beach area). You can get transportation to Colombo from the hotel with short notice. Tuk Tuks are available for local trips to nearby restaurants and bars.
