We are so happy that you came all the way to Sri Lanka to celebrate our special day!

Thank you for making our wedding the most memorable and joyous day. We cherish every moment of our time with you in Sri Lanka – truly a trip of a lifetime! We hope you met some wonderful people and made fond memories together. And we hope you will come back again for a reunion trip in the future!!

We also hope that Sri Lanka gave you some new and enjoyable experiences that you will talk about over and over again with friends and family! Sri Lanka is still struggling to recover from decades of civil war and subsequent economic crisis it faces today. Your trip had a material impact to the lively hood of many Sri Lankans (from staff to drivers to small businesses). We hope you will be able to share your experiences so that others may be convinced to give Sri Lanka a shot in the near future!

A few things to keep in mind when writing your reviews: Most of the hotel were closed right up till our arrival. With the economic crisis, many of these hotels could not keep staff, could not keep the rooms maintained, and may not have stocked food and drink. Many of the staff were hired in for the 2-3 days we were staying. Some may not have been fully trained. But hopefully the hotel was able to quickly fix any problems you encountered once you asked them to.

You may have enjoyed the natural beauty of the reservoir and surrounding nature, seen elephants watering, or met some monkeys at one of the pools or patios. Other highlights may include the food, room service, drink service, or just general helpfulness of the staff. You may have even enjoyed the spa after a day in the heat visiting historical sites.

The Grand Kandyan, its management, and staff helped organize and make our wedding a smooth and enjoyable event. You may have enjoyed the slightly opulent decoration, the welcome party with drinks and hors d’oeuvres, any of the meals you had at their restaurants and bars, the roof top pool, and the helpful staff. The hotel also made it possible for us to have the wonderful evening event with several performances including the fire dancers – all this was an exception to the normal events they host and was specially accommodated for us. Also let them know if you enjoyed the food during the wedding or at the evening reception. Don’t forget to thank the bar staff that stayed past normal hours to accommodate our late-night drinking habits!

This is one of my favorite hotels because it is nestled away in the gorgeous tea plantation hills. You may have enjoyed the grounds, the hotel with its old working machinery, quick laundry services, and definitely don’t forget to thank the bar staff for staying open late for us.

You may have enjoyed the views of the ocean from every room, the pool and bar service, the food (which was pretty good for Sri Lankan hotel food), and dont forget they put together a fabulous beach party with food and DJ in a few-hours notice.
